Lido and Ca’ Roman by bike.

This trip is better done in spring or summer, but if the weather is nice it is worth doing until October. Our suggestion is to reach the Lido by vaporetto, and then rent a bike near Santa Maria Elisabetta (circa 10 Euros for one day). From there, head right for the Alberoni (the public beach, very popular among Venetians). You will cross the village of Malamocco, a nice place to have a different view on the Laguna. From Alberoni, take the ferry and in less than 10 minutes you will reach Santa Maria del Mare, an oasis of peace and tranquility. Take the main road to the small villages San Pietro in Volta and  Pellestrina. These are all small fishermen villages, whose views, with tiny streets and small fishing boats, deserves a visit: it is one of the best spots of the entire laguna for eating fish! From Pellestrina, go on and cross the road alongside the Murazzi (big dams made of istrian stone) until the Ca’ Roman naturalistic area. You can have a wonderful pic-nic in the shade of the trees. Unluckily, works for new Dams (the Mose, to prevent flooding) spoil the view a bit on Chioggia, but the trip is definitely a must-do.
