Venice for art lovers
Venice has always been an art city, and true art lovers will be overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of museums and exhibitions.
If you like contemporary art, you can’t miss the Biennale Exhibition, when some of the best artistes in the world exhibit their works in the Arsenale and the Giardini. As the name suggests, this happens every two years, and it lasts 6 months. On odd years, you can visit the Art Biennale, while even years are dedicated to architecture. Collateral events include contemporary music, dance, theater festivals as well as the world famous Venice film Festival, held between august and September at the Lido.
Art lovers can not miss also the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Ca’ Pesaro, Emilio Vedova Foundation, and the two museums of French patron Francois Pinault Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana.
If you look for something more classic, head for Museo Correr (with works by Bellini and Carpaccio), the Gallerie dell’Accademia (Giorgione, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Mantegna and many others) e a Ca’ Rezzonico (Museum of XVIII Century in Venice, with works by Canaletto, Francesco Guardi, Pietro Longhi, Tiepolo, and reconsructions of 18th century rooms and ambiences).
